November 26, "Shop Small"

 "Shop Small"

Small businesses are the lifeblood of our communities.

On November 26, make a pledge to shop small on Small Business Saturday. If millions of people shop small, it will be huge.

Many bloggers have their own shops and tomorrow would be the perfect day for all of us to go "Christmas Shopping"!

Remember, tomorrow, Saturday November 26th

"Shop Small"

 Have a great weekend everyone!

" In Honor of our Veterans "

But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
- Robert Frost

I'm going out of town for one, maybe two weeks and wanted to get this post up because I have a special place in my heart for all the Men and Women who have and who are now giving their service to the United States of America.

Friday,  November 11, is Veterans Day here in America.
A very proud day for us all.
I have many Veterans in my family along with those who are serving our great Military, and this is a week to reflect and Honor those Men and Women who keep our Country great and safe.

To all the men and women who have  served and to those that never made it home.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Washington, DC

and to those who were carried home.

To those who were left behind to mourn.

"We Thank You"
We will never forget you!

"Crochet Bow Orniments"

Christmas  Ornaments are one part of  Christmas  that I love. I have so many collected over the years.  Making for myself or  as gifts has always been a pleasure for me.

This set of Crochet Bows are in the mail and on their way to Guam for my daughters living room tree.

I used white Christmas yarn with a silver thread through it.
Each bow is just one row of a simple double crochet.
That was easy!

I then twisted each strip into a bow.
Put in a few stitches to hold it together.
The nice thing about crochet you can make your bows with a few more rows and make them thicker and longer.

Then came the little trinket for the center of the bow.
I chose little foam packages, thinking my grandsons might enjoy them.
Using a simple tacky glue to attach the trinket to the center of the bow.

These little ornaments can be used for a variety of decorating ideas and are also very light weight.

You can use a simple narrow ribbon or the standard wire hooks
to hang from your tree.  Another use is to adorn your packages.
Use your imagination with these sweet little bows.

I might just make a set of Bows for myself!
The closer we get to Christmas the happier I get.

" Finished Another Christmas Gift "

I've been working on an Eye Glass Case and did it in Needle Point.
It's a Christmas gift for someone special so I had to put her name on it.

I used a stencil and sharpie to put her name on the bottom of the case then continued with the needle work.

Once I finished with the needle point I started with the lining fabric.  I'm one to mix colors and patterns so I found this pretty wild flannel that I thought would be easy on a pair of lenses and not scratch.

When I purchased the 1/4 yard of flannel, the woman behind the cutting table said "your going to use that pattern for your lining"?  Sure, I said, "I love to be daring"!  She only smiled.

I cut the fabric to size and pinned into place, then stitched it up on the machine.. Was easy and fast!

Another Christmas gift finished.
I'm happy to say the list is getting shorter!

How is your Christmas shopping going?
