Blooming Aloe and TS Emily

Yesterday I took a walk around my hot steaming back yard and noticed the Aloe Plant was blooming.
The photo below is from my upstairs balcony. This is the vantage point for me to see what is going on out there.

I'll have to admit the "Rainy Season" makes everything so green and lush but it's so humid.. really... you have to feel the wet in the air to appreciate it.  I find myself not going out during the day.  It's indoors, in the a/c for most of us here.  I remember when I was a kid my Father took us to our house in NY or  we went to my grandmothers in Cape May, for the summers. Since moving back here as an adult,  I totally understand.

The Aloe plant is so happy.

For the next few days Florida is on "Tropical Storm Watch".. Looks like our first storm, "Emily" will be skirting the East Coast.
My daughter Cyndi lives in West Palm Beach and they more than likely will get a bit of wind and rain....

"Hurricane Season has officially begun"
Stay cool everyone and if Emily rears her ugly
head, be safe.

I'll be joining "A Southern Daydreamer" for

  1. Nice view from upstairs. The Hummers are going to love the Aloe blooms. We are staying indoors as well. And my daughter lives on Daytona Beach they are land locked...

  2. Hello Sandy, hope you stay safe from the hurricane, too. I can relate to the humidity thing, we've been just oppressive here (but I'm sure it pales in comparison to what you have to endure) and today is the day we're supposed to finally dry out a little, hour by hour. We had dewpoints in the upper 70's and haven't been able to see outdoors due to the house windows fogging up on the outside. Goes to show our geothermal AC is working, anyway!

Love the aloe bloom, I've never seen a flower on them before.

Your garden is so beautiful, I hope the weather lets you enjoy it very soon!

  3. The view from your balcony is spectacular. Both my son and daughter live in Florida on the east coast. I'm hoping the tropical storm isn't a bad one.

  4. I had no idea aloe bloomed! I grew up with it in the yard and just can't remember it blooming. I have just a small plant now that my sister just gave me. I guess it will be awhile!

  5. I wanted to stop by and say thank you for your comment on my blog. It was so encouraging to me to hear about your daughter's and grandkids' journey with homeschooling over the past few years. I can tell you are so proud of them!

  9. I'm amused like Andrea but more because her blog is about this lifetime and yours cover the next life time. Maybe I should blog about my past life... as a Red Indian.

I have Aloe Vera too but the color is yellow, not red.

  10. So cool that you have aloe! It's too cool here for it. I've never see it bloom before :) Hope you just get a little rain and nothing too wild with Emily! Happy FF! Jenni

  11. Sandy, we were both in 'high places' for this Fertilizer Friday! I love the view from above. Your gardens are so beautiful, so lush, even with all the humidity. I don't know if ours was as bad as yours, but our dewpoints did reach 76 and things were really nasty for awhile. I can see why you would want to escape the heat, just like we would love to get out of here when it's -20 in the winter.

Hope you have a great weekend and the storms blow on by.

  13. What an astonishing view! That garden is magnificent.

I hope the hurricane season is kind to all. The storms have been so bad everywhere this year.

  14. girl....that view is to die for!!! wow...stay safe from all the weather...
It does my heart good to tour around the gardens that are linked into my little party...I so wish every one of the people who share lived close enough that I could walk the gardens in person. Thank you so much for sharing with me this week...I hope you will again very soon!
Hugs and smiles from Alberta Canada to you!
