It's back! Vertigo.
This will be my third bout with this very nasty sensation and for the past 4 days I've been dizzy. Not 24 hours a day but only when I bend or stoop or roll over while in bed or try to walk down the stairs.
I saw my PCP Doctor two days ago and from what he tells me many people are afflicted by this. My case came on with a vengeance from my flights home last week. The second plane did a very slow decent and my inner ears started to hurt and it took me two days to hear properly. Then the vertigo hit me during the night. How the room spun when I rolled over in my sleep.
I will be going back for this treatment but they can't take me until next Friday, that is 7 days to wait! So in the mean time I'll take the meds the doctor gave me... they make me sleepy but I can walk without being afraid of falling down from being so dizzy. This means no driving, no crafting, no nothing. Even knitting bothers my head.
My plans for Fall decorating is out for another few weeks.
If it sounds like I'm whining, yes I am. This is no fun! And today is the first day of Fall and it's not raining here.
Ok,, I'll count my blessings and be grateful for what I do have and try to overlook my upcoming week of misery.
I'll not be posting for the next week or so but I'll be looking in to see what all my bloggy friends are up to and I'll be flying again in the months ahead but this time I'll take my Doctors advice and put in a really good pair of ear plugs before boarding.
It's been two weeks now and the treatment worked. I love my physical therapist, she knows her job! Who knew a bit of rolling over would move the crystals in my ears and eliminate the dizzy!

I sure hope you feel better soon. I know that must be miserable! Take care! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon! I will miss your posts!! :)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you are having to deal with this, it sounds absolutely miserable. Just try to relax, get back when you can. We will be waiting for you, and we'll leave the light on. Gentle hugs.
ReplyDeleteIt's too soon for fall...I missed summer. There was spring then the inferno but no summer.
ReplyDeleteHeal quickly.
Oh wow, Sandy. This doesn't sound good at all.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're able to get some rest and not having any pain. This doesn't sound like a very pleasant experience.
...get well, Pat
Sandy, I had a severe case of vertigo a few years back. I was out out of work for two weeks and then couldn't drive for another two. I remember most having to crawl to the bathroom cuz i couldn't stand and I wouldn't wish this condition on my worst enemy, not that I have any... :-).
ReplyDeleteI did not know that going to a therapist was even an option, so than you for that info. I will definitely will do that if it ever comes back.
Feel better and stay still, just let your eyes do the moving!!
Diane
Thanks for sharing such a difficult thing to go through. Hope you're feeling better today.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to read about this, Sandy. I hope that you are beginning to feel a little better. My daughter has had vertigo and I know that it is no fun at all!
ReplyDeleteThat does not sound fun. I had some vertigo a couple years ago when my allergies had so much swelling in my head.
ReplyDeleteThat's very interesting. I've heard of people having that, but I didn't realize it was caused by crystals in the ear. It must be kind of scary when you feel like you could fall. And not being able to drive would really be inconvenient. I'm glad you're OK now.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI had this last year, I found it came back when I did too much and got over tired.

Oy! You poor little thing. Vertigo is a disgusting feeling. My daughter suffers from it greatly. She pretty much has to take a Dramamine pill every day. Sometimes, it comes on suddenly and she said it feels awful. A friend's husband had that vestibular adjustment and it did greatly relieve his symptoms too.
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better soon.
I had a similar scenario a few years ago and similar treatment. I was skeptical but it worked!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteOH that sounds terrible. I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't sound like you have a fun week ahead of you...
ReplyDeletetake care and feel better!
My mom gets vertigo, too, usually from stress. It's no fun, she says!
ReplyDeleteUse Ear Planes when you get ear plugs. They work like a charm and are especially made to make sure that the pressure in your ears does not change while flying. I wouldn't take off without them!
=)
it's awful...I know, my neice had some bouts with it a few years back
ReplyDeleteHope that you are recovered soon! :)
I'm glad your vertigo is better! I'm lucky (blessed!) to have two therapists in my family :)
ReplyDeleteSandy!
ReplyDeleteOh no!
Vertigo is awful.
I ended up with a nasty round of it.
I'm not sure which treatment 'cured' it but one of these three finally did the trick: Increased my T3/T4 medication substantially...increased my D-3 intake to 10,000 units AND started doing a half dose nasal spray for seasonal allergies I didn't even know I had.
These three treatments were all under doctors care but finally it is gone!
I don't know if that will help, but I truly feel for you.
That sensation is just horrible.
Sending a prayer your way, sweet lady.
I hope this vertigo ends very, very soon!
Hugs, prayers and A+
