Little Burlap Birdies. My Pinterest knock-offs

I found these little birdies on Pinterest and went to the blogger who crafted them  See hers HERE  and asked  if she minded if I copied them.  She was thrilled that I liked them so much.
They were "Sew Easy".   I had some burlap scraps and simply cut a template with some paper then cut the little guys out...  Hand stitched them with DMC floss then a bit of stuffing.
The twine was the only part that took a bit of time.  Cut to length and hot glue little flowery designs (or is it wings?) to the side of the bird.

I added a little dangle of DMC floss.

"How cute are they"

I'm happy to say "I'm finished with Christmas"
The house is decorated, all the packages to the kids are off in the mail.  My sister will be here on the 18th for her winter visit so I decided to get busy with a project I've been putting off for quite some time.  I have this kitty named Daisy who has totally ruined one of my slipcovers in the living room.  She is finally over her scratching and today I got busy with the new cover.

I spent a few hours on the floor measuring, pinning, cutting and finally wanted to scream with frustration  This takes so long to get perfect but I'm happy with the results so far.  I went on a fabric search a few months ago and the price of Waverly fabric is really expensive.  I needed 7 yards and at $40.00 per yard.. well you get the picture.  But I was lucky and found a close out store in St. Petersburg.  This Waverly fabric was only $7.99 a yard.  Yes, Waverly.
The fabric is cream and the design is a very light shade of brown with a French Toile pattern.  It is  something I have not had in that room for years (pattern).  It's all different shades of white and this should really change the mood.
I'll show more as I get further along with my sewing.  I just have one request.  Do you think I should put a "box pleat or gathering for a skirt on the slipcover".  I'm leaning to gathering (it's more shabby), besides it uses less fabric.
That remains to be seen?

Did you get your flu shot this year?  The news is saying the strains are strong and many are all ready getting the flu in the southern states.  As you know children and seniors are first to get the flu but not this year.  Many in their 30's and 40's are showing signs.  I'll tell you, for those of you who do not want a flu shot, have a half cup of "Garlic Soup" each day and the bugs of colds and flu will run from your body screaming.
(it works)

Your little birds are a sweet addition to your decorating! Have fun with your chair...I don't attempt those type of things. I know my limits.
Farmhouse hugs,
Cindy

I was looking for a relatively easy project to do with my daughter one evening after a long workday for both of us. This is it! I'm going to pick up the burlap and twine before I head home for the weekend - I have stuffing already. Thanks so much!

How adorable. I love anything burlap. I may have to make some....but probably not this year. My plate is pretty full working on projects that I pinned. I'm pinning these so I don't forget. Thanks for sharing. I'm visiting from Thrifty Things Friday. Happy Holidays!

Your chair is going to be beautiful...love your fabric choice.

Those little birds are so cute! Pinterest is great for finding ideas. I can't wait to see your chair. That was a great deal on the fabric. Either skirt would look good. Gathered is a little more casual and if it uses less fabric all the better!
