Saying Good Bye To An Old Friend....

I have a new appreciation for those who loose a long time pet.. the house was much too quite this morning.
Rikki was not at her bowl screaming for food.
Will take some time to get over her not being here.
In her 18 years she moved where we moved and was always the one thing that made the new place a home.
I'm feeling "I took her for granted"
I also know, when someone says "Oh just get another cat"
 it's not the same.
"She can't be replaced"
 (her last photo)

 Busy Sandy, keep busy!

 "Bye Bye Sweet Girl"

Oh, I am so sorry for your loss. We lost our black Lab over the winter and we still miss her terribly. xo They sure grow on you and tug at your heart, don't they?

I am very sorry that your kitty passed away. We become so attached to them. I wish our pets had longer life spans.

Hopefully, this won't sound too far fetched, but when the kitty we had for 17 years passed away, something strange happened. My husband and I continued to think we caught glimpses of him. This happened more often to me. We would catch glimpses of him in the hallway or at the bedroom doorway or sometimes in the dining room. For quite some time we had this experience. It happened less and less after time passed. It's been a few years since he's been gone. And I haven't caught any glimpses of him for a while now. I still wonder if those glimpses were just our brains thinking that he was there...or something else.

I am so sorry for your loss of your beloved fur baby...and you are right, they can never be replaced as each has their own special personality...I hope your memories of her will help you through this time of grief and loss...sending you a big cyber hug...

That's very sad news. Our non human companions become such an important part of our everyday lives. I hope your heart heals and the sadness is replaced with only the fond memories.
