Tropical Downpour

Went to the airport to pick up "Mr. N" this morning. Look what met me at the start of the 14 mile Causeway...

All I could think of was.. "OMG", here it comes!
I dread the "Tropical Downpours" we have here in SoFla. I usually avoid driving in them, but had no choice today.

One thing in my favor, no traffic at 10 am.
Would have been horrible a few hours earlier.  Today was the first day of the school year in our area.
Normal rush hour traffic is bumper to bumper on this road.

Then I drove right into it!
I was so busy paying attention to my driving I forgot to snap another photo, of the rain!

Picture this.... Two hands on the steering wheel,  35 mph, wipers at double time, blinding tropical downpour  all the way home from TIA, and Mr. N. backseating! Fun!
Sigh of relief... I made it!

I'm Grateful to have made it home so I'm linking to Heidi's "Gratitude Wednesday's" linkie party

It looks pretty and scary at the same time..driving in torential rain is not fun, sometimes your wipers don't wipe that fast..glad you got to your destination and back again safely..causeways are rather scary anyway..it looks beautiful from where I am sitting...but I suppose not where you were sitting...

I know that causeway well! It's not fun getting stuck on it when the rains come. The blinding rains! FL is the worse for those sudden downpours.

I'm in Orlando so I know what you are talking about, we had a rain free day the first one in a long time, that one cloud almost looks like it was forming a funnel. I think I understand why you did not a get a picture when it was raining!!!

Those are pretty nasty looking clouds. Did Mr. N land before it hit? I can imagine the turbulence. La

Hi,

I'm Yoli, coming through from Heidi's Heart and Home. I'm so glad you made it through. I know exactly how it feels to drive through pouring rain. I often have to drive by the coast to visit my mother and several times my drive has been like that. We need the rain but I could do without the intense driving.

Hope you have a great week!
Yoli :)

That looks so scary! I remember driving across in that area when I was a child, my knuckles white, I was so scared the car would go off the road and into the water. And that was in good weather, I don't think I'd like it at all in a storm. Glad you and hubby made it home safely! A perfect post for today, thanks for joining the party!

Your pictures are great! I can imagine what it would be like in that kind of rain, I had an experience with thick fog that came to mind when I read this. So glad you made it through safely.
