It's Spring!
That's what everyone is telling me and all I read and see on the news is the north is still suffering the wrath of winter.
Snow?
What snow?
We in South Florida are having chilly weather but the sun is glorious. The past two days I've been cleaning and doing damage control out in the yard. This year our winter was odd indeed... It's been colder than normal and most of my plantings have suffered.Yesterday our Home Depot had a great sale on "Red Bark Mulch" and I bought 20 bags.. they were $1.00 a bag.
Then the unthinkable happened.
I threw out my back, yep, I really hurt myself and had to give up when I had so much more to do.
I looked out from my bedroom balcony into the beautiful sunshine and wanted to cry because I could not finish, but I feel so good about how much I did get done. The weeds took over this past winter and I made some large piles for the lawn guys to take on Thursday. (Our regular day for them to spruce up the lawn. I love those guys)
As much as I love my yard, it's so much work to keep it up.
One good thing about being stuck indoors today I was able to have a good gab with my sister in Saudi on Face Time. Then a two hour phone chat with the new mommy, my daughter. Her baby is 2 weeks today and had his check up with the Dr. He and his brothers are all doing great.
Well, it's 5 in the afternoon and 55' out. Freeze warning tonight they say, wonder if I need to get out and put some sheets on my new plantings? No, I think I'll take my chances and let mother nature take over.

Sorry to hear about your back. Hope you are better soon.

Good Lord Sis, you try to do too much!! What you did finish look really good!! LOVE you
There is always a tendency to jump in and try to get all the gardening done first thing in the Spring. I have learned my lesson many years in a row, now I hold back. Your garden already looks wonderful.
So glad to got some face time with your daughter and grandson!
great price on mulch...but take it easy
I like the way your yard slopes down. You don't often see that in FLorida. Sorry to hear abt. your back. Hope you're up and good as new soon.
No Spring up North! I think that we just had two months of February! :)
Take it easy! :)
Hope you recover soon and up by Easter!
I love your yard, and the project on what you have done so far.. BEAUTIFUL .. sit back and relax and enjoy it all. NO rush.. Take your time..YOU have all spring and summer....NO race .. ItS time to enjoy and soak it all in.. Hope that it gets warm for you soon. I loved the snowman holding up the sign....so cute
It is so hard to stay indoors when there is much to be done outside. I've always preferred outdoors to indoors. Hope and pray your back is doing much better.
Sorry to hear about your back. I do still have snow here. :-(
Lots of healing hugs to you to heal your back ~ your yard will be beautiful ~ it already looks like it is on its way ~ Enjoy ^_^
Take care of your back!
I like the look of that Red Bark Mulch, but I don't think we have it up here.
Oh, no, so sorry to hear about your back! That is my greatest fear, a nasty injury. It sounds as if you caught it soon enough and you are wise indeed to rest and recover instead of pushing on with the chores despite the pain. I am often goofy and push and then I regret it, Big Time.
Your garden looks beautiful already and in no time you will be able to finish the chores. In the meantime, look at the lovely crocheting and fun visiting you were able to do. Heck, we still have 3' of snow on the ground, so no work here yet, either. Take care, Sandy!
Lovely *S* post – great photography but hope your back's OK!
Have a great weekend and look forward to *seeing* you again!
Visiting from Alphabe-Thursday
oh dear I know how frustrating it can be when you don't feel good and have a lot of work to do. I've had the same thing happen with my back...
feel better soon....
It's snowing here in Romania,as well!
But your garden is beautiful and lovable and all the hours that you put into it return sharing beauty for all of us to see... thank you!
Sorry to hear about your back. Hope you have a good chiropractor. I was one of those who would never go to one until I had a huge problem with my neck after helping my daughter move. Felt so much better after 3 visits in a week. Regarding your yard...I know what you mean. We have a huge yard, which I love but its getting to be too much. The weather is gorgeous here in NC today, but I'm layed up in bed for a couple of days. Hope your back gets better soon.
Stunning post. Love the chrochet .
Oh how beautiful your gardens are!
Can't wait for us to get some heat.
I noticed 2 wee orange crocus showing threw.
I am so sorry about your back! Hope you are back at it soon (but very carefully).
Such a strange year everywhere! Beautiful job in your garden. So sorry you hurt your back. I've enthusiastically done the very same thing gardening before. No party! Looks like you have both indoor and outdoor talents!
Aws! Sorry about your back:(
Your yard is beautiful. Do you fancy some sunshine? We have 40 degrees today.

Take care of your back. The garden will wait. You need to sit and rock (shades of John F. Kennedy) the new baby.
Pecan trees have not ventured leaves yet -- my sure sign of Spring in zone 8b.
